What is the most important quality of a leader?

What do you think is the most important quality of a leader?

Permalink Reply by Trisha on August 12, 2008 at 12:13am: One important quality is wisdom. Godly wisdom not that the world gives but that the heavenly Father gives to those who ask. Also compassion for others. I am sure that there are many others quality of a leader. Compassion, direction , I am not sure what would be the most important except to love the Lord God with all thy heart.

Permalink Reply by Rhoda Baty on August 19, 2008 at 7:38am: I think the #1 quality is to be at the feet of Jesus daily to get your instructions for the day, to get filled up with His love and compassion. To get your worth from Him so you can not be worried about how you are received. If you don't have your Godly armour on you can't quench the firey darts of the enemy who WILL attack!

I think the #2 quality is encouragement. To not hold people hostage to who they were yesterday and see them 'as if' they have already 'turned out' to be who God purposed them to be. We have so much power to lift someone's spirit and yet often times, at least for me, I let that lay dormant instead of sharing it and lifting someone's spirit.

Leaders in my life that I have counted great were those who looked to release the strengths and gifts of everyone around them. When you were with them they gave you their focus and affirmed all the things you brought to the effort at hand. They challenged your fears and excuses and created an environment where it was safe to fail and get up and go again, with no shame and much encouragement. Unfortunately, we can look on the evening news and see storys of how leaders compromise their ethics, integrity, and in some cases morality by making self-centered choices failing to consider the impact that their leadership has on others.; ▶ Reply to This
